Science Olympiad is a Rock Star of Science
The new Rock Stars of Science (ROCK SOS) program was launched in GQ magazine this fall and recognizes the amazing talents of scientists and researchers in the USA. Musicians like Will I. Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Josh Groban, Sheryl Crow, Seal and Joe Perry of Aerosmith lent their star power to the campaign and hope to raise awareness about science careers while also raising funds for health research via the Geoffrey Beene Foundation. We nominated Dr. Gerard Putz, one of the founders of Science Olympiad, as a "Rock Star of Science" and he was accepted! Check out his bio online. On September 24, 2009, musicians, scientists and politicians came together in Washington, DC, to discuss vital issues. What a platform to get people talking about science!
