STATE DIRECTOR’S INFORMATION FORM

Our Science Olympiad State Organization will: (Please check all seven required items.): *

Use the Official Science Olympiad Rules at our tournament. It is understood that a state may choose to run a partial slate of events, or add special regional events on a case-by-case basis. Trial and Pilot Events are within the discretion of Regional and State Tournament Directors.

Mail (or email) Science Olympiad membership invitations with a cover letter to public and private junior/middle schools and/or senior high schools in our state or region. Science Olympiad will reimburse each state organization for bulk mailing postage - please send receipts for payment. Please consider sharing the Membership Benefits with all teams (on the website under Start a Team).

Plan to collect membership fees and distribute manuals early in the school year (please do not wait until October/November!). Payment of the $60/per team national membership fee is due 30 days after your membership deadline closes or no later than May 15.

Ensure that each participating team at any Invitational, Regional or State Tournament will be a certified member of the Science Olympiad national program. If multiple teams (JV/Alternate/etc.) from the same school are allowed in your state, each team must pay the designated national membership fee of $60, and each team must be included in the final membership count.

Science Olympiad will send Rules Manuals in early September based on the number of last year’s members, a B and C manual for each regional director listed on the attached list mentioned in #7, plus 5% for growth.

Send a list of members to the national office. (Excel preferred)

Attach a list of all sanctioned regional and state tournaments in our state, including contact information for each Regional Tournament Director. This is a requirement for your tournaments to be covered by our umbrella Chapter/Club Liability Insurance Plan. State tournaments should be completed by April, and regional tournaments should be completed approximately one month before the state tournament. The Science Olympiad National Tournament will be hosted by the University of Central Florida on May 16-17, 2014.
