In 2010, Science Olympiad formed a working partnership with the Midwest Alliance for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), a consortium of universities in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa dedicated to increasing participation and achievement of people with disabilities in all fields of science. At the annual Science Olympiad State Director's Training Meeting in 2010, Midwest Alliance staff spoke about ways to recruit, accommodate and coach students with disabilities. Midwest Alliance plans to offer information for students with disabilities who participate in Science Olympiad and also provide outreach to their teammates.
