Fight Hunger! DuPont Pioneer Matching Grant Challenge Open thru 6/30!
Aiming to raise $10,000 to fight hunger, Science Olympiad and DuPont Pioneer launched the "It's Good To Be Smart, and It's Smart To Be Good" program in conjunction with the 31st Annual National Tournament at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, addressing food insecurity in the greater Lincoln/Omaha area. Students, parents, teachers and volunteers will be invited to donate to the Food Bank for the Heartland, which will be matched 100% up to $5,000 by DuPont Pioneer. Empowering students to think outside themselves and help provide solutions to those in need is tremendously important to the Science Olympiad organization, which hosts nearly 400 tournaments in 49 states annually.
The Science Olympiad effort could potentially raise $10,000 for Nebraska families in need; for every $1 received the Food Bank will be able to provide three meals. There are several ways to give from May 4 to June 30, 2015:
- Visit the Science Olympiad Virtual Food Drive web page and enter your donation online
- Visit the DuPont Pioneer Booth from 9am - 2pm at the Science Olympiad STEM Expo, Friday, May 15, 2015 on the UNL City Campus, Jorgensen Hall and bring $1, $5 or any amount to the donation buckets
- Write a check to "Food Bank of Lincoln" with Science Olympiad in the Memo and mail to: Food Bank of Lincoln, PO Box 29228, Lincoln, NE 68529
We can make a real impact on the communities we visit for Science Olympiad and do our part to end the hunger crisis in America. DuPont Pioneer will also be presenting two $1,000 scholarships to the winners of the Division C Green Generation event at the 2015 National Tournament.
